Baked Onion Soup
Ingredients

1/4 cupbutter or margarine
3large onions
2garlic cloves, minced
2 canscondensed beef broth (10 1/2 oz. Cans)
1 cupdry white wine or water
1 teaspoonworcestershire sauce
6 slicesDeli style sliced swiss cheese
6 slicesFrench bread (3/4" thick, toasted)
1/2 cupFancy Parmesan shredded Cheese
Melt butter in a large saucepan. Add onions and garlic; cook over low heat for 30 minutes or until tender, stirring occasionally. Sir in beef broth, wine and Worcestershire sauce; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 10 minutes. Ladle into 6 ovenproof bowls. Cut Swiss cheese in half diagonally to form triangles. Place one Swiss cheese triangle over each portion of soup; top with one slice of French bread. Place remaining Swiss cheese triangles over bread; sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Broil 5 inches from heat for 2 minutes or until cheese is melted and golden. Try as alternative to Famous-Barr soup. May want to leave out the garlic and thicken with a smidgeon of flour?
