Cans) | 1 cup | dry white wine or water | 1 teaspoon | worcestershire sauce | 6 slices | Deli style sliced swiss cheese | 6 slices | French bread (3/4" thick, toasted) | 1/2 cup | Fancy Parmesan shredded Cheese |
| Melt butter in a large saucepan. Add onions and garlic; cook over low heat for 30 minutes or until tender, stirring occasionally. Sir in beef broth, wine and Worcestershire sauce; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 10 minutes. Ladle into 6 ovenproof bowls. Cut Swiss cheese in half diagonally to form triangles. Place one Swiss cheese triangle over each portion of soup; top with one slice of French bread. Place remaining Swiss cheese triangles over bread; sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Broil 5 inches from heat for 2 minutes or until cheese is melted and golden.
Try as alternative to Famous-Barr soup. May want to leave out the garlic and thicken with a smidgeon of flour? |
