Sweet and Sour Brisket
Ingredients

6 poundsbeef brisket
2onions, sliced
1 clovegarlic clove, minced
3/4 cupbrown sugar
1/2 cupvinegar
1 cupcatsup
1 cupwater or 1/2 c. red wine
1 tablespoonsalt
Freshly ground pepper
Place brisket in heavy skillet and brown on all sides. Use a little oil to avoid burning, if necessary. Add and brown onions and garlic. Add remaining ingredients and simmer, covered, until meat is tender, about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Add liquid if necessary. Slice. Serves 10.
